Title:

Testing of a Multimode Propulsion System under High Vacuum

Abstract:

Multimode propulsion combines both chemical and electric processes into a hybrid system that offers more versatility and potentially higher efficiency compared to traditional electric propulsion systems. It is an exciting and relatively new area of research that glimpses into the future of in-space propulsion technology. A test of multimode propulsion technology in a couple of different configurations was conducted at the High-Powered Electric Propulsion Lab in collaboration with a third party-company. This presentation will cover some background on multimode propulsion, the test preparation process, as well as some implications of this technology on the future of EP.
