Abstract

CubeSats pose a unique set of challenges regarding propellant management. The saturated propellants and conformal tank geometries that are commonly employed render conventional fluid management systems ineffective or inefficient. Thermal and electromagnetic propellant management devices offer improved performance and robustness in a compact form factor. The work herein focuses on designing, analyzing, and testing these novel technologies. An overview of the topic area is presented, previous work is discussed, work completed by the author is described, and a research plan culminating in demonstrating two novel propellant management technologies is outlined.
